Your starting point

Start with your nationality, current permission, intended work and family plan. The correct route comes before the document checklist, and personal residence must be distinguished from tax and company decisions.

01

Choose the route around what you will do

An EU registration, visitor application, employment permission and investor route do not offer identical conditions. Describe where you will live, how you earn income and who moves with you. Common labels such as Yellow Slip or Pink Slip should not replace a category assessment.

If remote work, a special employment category or another route is involved, ask for its specific suitability review and custom scope. Do not assume it is covered by a standard package simply because the documents look similar.

02

Prepare one consistent evidence record

Organise identity, existing permissions, travel, address and the evidence relevant to your chosen route. Use the authority’s current checklist and confirm translations and certification before commissioning them. Mark uncertain dates and missing documents clearly.

A coordinated family brief should still identify each person’s position. The sponsor’s permission does not answer every question about another family member’s work, travel or residence rights.

03

Plan attendance, expiry and external decisions

Digital preparation can reduce administrative friction, while signatures, appointments and biometrics may still need personal attendance. Discuss expiry and travel plans before relying on a preparation timetable. Any urgent status issue deserves direct, timely professional attention.

A submission, receipt or calendar booking should not be treated as an assurance that permission has been accepted. The advocate’s included work and the authority’s processing are separate milestones.

04

Connect the move to the wider business plan

Company registration, bookkeeping and tax residency can be arranged alongside residence work through separately defined engagements. Your legal provider should identify where another adviser is needed, while the operational provider works from consistent approved facts.

Use the guides and relevant Sumly links to prepare these handoffs. A custom consultation can clarify which legal application stage is suitable and what professional fee, VAT and external costs to expect.

Your route to a fixed-fee decision

  1. Define the decision. Identify the people, documents, location, deadline and outcome that matter.
  2. Discuss the options. A confirmed consultation can clarify which legal stage is useful, which evidence is missing and whether other advisers are needed.
  3. Approve the scope. The provider confirms its identity, included work, review rounds, professional fee, applicable VAT and external costs in writing.
  4. Receive the agreed work. Preparation is organised digitally. Signatures, appointments, hearings and authority decisions are planned separately when necessary.

Before you choose your next step

Can I combine services in a custom offer?

Yes. Discuss the required stages, documents and dependencies before engagement. A custom proposal should identify each included deliverable and its fixed professional fee, applicable VAT and separate external costs.

Is the consultation included in a package?

The proposed 30-minute consultation is €150 + VAT and is a separate service. Any requirement to consult first or credit towards later work must be expressly confirmed in the provider’s written quote.

How is the timeframe confirmed?

Included legal preparation begins after written acceptance and complete documents. Your advocate confirms the milestone in the scope. Court dates, appointments, authority decisions and counterparty responses are separate.
